Superalloy 155 is an iron-based alloy withhigh strength resistance of up to 815ˇăC (1500ˇăF). It can sustain moderateloading at temperatures of 1093ˇăC (2000ˇăF). It has good oxidation resistance athigh temperatures and good corrosion resistance to sulfuric acid (at roomtemperature) and to nitric acid. This alloyˇŻs high-temperature strength isgained from its chemical composition rather than from age hardening. Superalloy155 behaves like austenitic 300 series stainless steels during machining usingconventional methods and has good ductility. It can be easily formed usingconventional methods but it has a tendency to work harden so solution heattreatment may be needed to gain back some ductility during cold forming operations.Superalloy 155 can be solution heat-treated at 1177ˇăC (2150ˇăF) and then waterquenched or quickly air-cooled.
